Opinions are Best Served When Asked For

Soon after my 2015 diagnosis, I was with some work colleagues and shared my news. And… before I knew it, I was being flooded with advice. “You should try this treatment.”“You need to see this practitioner.”“You should take these supplements.” It came from a place of caring, I know that. Worry = Effort With No Outcome

I used to worry about everything. Even when there was nothing to worry about… I’d find something.

Over time, I’ve realised this:

  • Worry changes nothing.
  • It fixes nothing.
  • It protects no one.

It’s simply the mind creating a story about a future that hasn’t happened, and may never happen.

What surprised me most is the energy behind worry.
When we worry about people we love, we tell ourselves it’s care. But what we’re often projecting is fear, doubt, and uncertainty.

That doesn’t empower them.
It weighs them down.

Love feels expansive.
Worry feels heavy.

They are not the same.

Through my health journey, I’ve had to face a lot of unknowns. And I’ve learned, sometimes the hard way, that worrying about the future doesn’t prepare me for it. It just robs me of the present.

So now, when worry creeps in, I come back to this:

“If I can’t change it, I don’t need to carry it.”

Instead, I focus on what I can influence.
My thoughts. My energy. My response.

Because that’s where real power lives.
